If you played CityGuesser at cityguesser.eu, you're in the right place. We moved everything to maponica.com. The game is the same — you watch a real walking tour, guess where it is, and try to outscore your friends. The home is just new and better.
What changed
- Smoother gameplay. The game runs faster and rarely kicks you out mid-round.
- Plays on phones. Phones, tablets, classroom projectors — same experience everywhere.
- Up to 250 players in one game. Whole classrooms, team events, and big Discord groups fit in a single room.
- Hundreds more places. A library of 1000+ walking tours, with new locations added regularly.
- Room for more games. Flag guessing, image quizzes, and geography tournaments are on the way — Maponica is the home for all of them.
What didn't change
- Still completely free. No premium tier, no paywall, no credit card.
- Still no account needed. Open a room, share a code, everyone joins.
- Same game. Watch a real walking tour, guess where it is on the map, score points by how close you got.
- Same community. Same Discord, same regulars, same vibe.
Why “Maponica”?
“City Guesser” was always a stretch — players guess all kinds of places, not just cities. And we're building more than one game next. Flag-guessing, photo quizzes, and multiplayer geography tournaments all want a brand that fits more than just “cities.”
Maponica is short, memorable, and feels right as a home for everything we're making. CityGuesser stays — it's still the game's name. It's now the flagship under the Maponica brand.
What about cityguesser.eu?
Still online. Still works. If you've bookmarked it, used it in a classroom for years, or just prefer it on a school computer, keep going.
Banners on the old site point to maponica.com so people can find the new version. But we're not flipping a redirect switch overnight — when Maponica works equally well on every device, that's when it's time to fully move. Until then, both live side by side. No rush.
