Terms of Service

Welcome to Maponica. By accessing or using our website and games, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Maponica is a free-to-play multiplayer geography gaming platform. Our flagship game, CityGuesser, lets players watch walking tour videos and guess locations on a map. The service is provided "as is" and may be updated, modified, or temporarily unavailable without notice.

You may use Maponica if you are at least 16 years old, or if you are younger, with the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

Maponica currently operates without mandatory user accounts. You can create and join game rooms by choosing a temporary username and avatar. No registration or personal information is required. When we introduce optional accounts in the future, additional terms may apply.

When using Maponica, you agree not to:

• Use offensive, discriminatory, or hateful usernames or chat messages
• Harass, bully, or threaten other players
• Exploit bugs, use automation, or cheat in any way that gives an unfair advantage
• Attempt to disrupt the service, overload servers, or interfere with other players' experience
• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the service

We reserve the right to remove players from game rooms or restrict access to the service for violations of these rules.

Content you create while using Maponica (usernames, chat messages) is temporary and not stored beyond the game session. By sending chat messages, you grant us a limited right to display them to other players in the same room during the active session.

Video content shown in games is sourced from YouTube and is subject to YouTube's own terms. Maponica does not claim ownership of third-party video content.

The Maponica name, logo, game design, code, and visual assets are owned by Maponica. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our intellectual property without prior written permission.

You may share screenshots and recordings of gameplay for personal, non-commercial purposes (including streaming and content creation), provided you credit Maponica.

Maponica is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.

We are not responsible for the content of YouTube videos shown during gameplay or for any third-party websites linked from the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maponica shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under EU law.

Your use of Maponica is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. Accepting these Terms does not constitute consent for cookies or tracking — consent for those is managed separately.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic and applicable European Union regulations. Any disputes shall be resolved by the competent courts of the Slovak Republic, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules that may give you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
